This is how it works. Let's say you want to sell anti-virus software from an online company. The first thing you do is sign up the anti-virus company as an affiliate partner. Once you have registered with them, they will provide you your own personalized affiliate link. Then you can either create a text link or link an image to your affiliate program.

The great thing about being part of an affiliate program is that you don't have to take orders, carry products, deal with billing, returns or anything. Just send a potential customer to the company and let their website do the selling for you.

Affiliate companies will have an admin area where you can view your stats, traffic you have sent them and the number of sales you have made. This will help you decide on which programs are the most successful.

If you are just selling a few products (less than 10), you may want to accept credit card payments through PayPal. PayPal is the most well know online billing company. Once you register with them, there is an area in your admin section that will allow you to create an "ADD TO CART" button. Just enter in the name of the product you are selling and the price you are selling it for. PayPal will then provide you an html code that you can copy to your website. So each product you are selling will have a photo of the product, a description and then an ADD TO CART PayPal button where people can buy it.

Once you make a sale, you can withdrawl your earnings directly to your bank account.

Selling More Than 10 Items:

If you have more than 10 products to sell, you should consider getting a Shopping Cart Software program. The benefit to you is that you can easily add new products, modify prices / descriptions and keep your business organized. There is no need to copy code like you do in the PayPal example above. Just upload your photos, type your description and start selling. Plus there are many templates to choose from to help you design your website.

The price of Shopping cart software is based upon the number of products you are selling. You can still sell you products via PayPal if you wish, but you won't have to add the code for each product because the software does it for you.

If you don't want to accept PayPal and you just want to have a merchant account, then you can. But you will also need to set up an SSL Certificate to make sure your customer's credit card information is secure.

The only downside that people have about selling products online, is managing the inventory, customer service, collecting orders, shipping and returns.

But the great benefits is that you are your own boss and can work from home.

I would also suggest setting up some kind of business name with your city & state. Also setting up a business checking account. But you can always start selling and if your business takes off, then set up the rest.

If you do this method, make sure you collect all your buyer's email addresses so you can keep in touch with them. Sending them monthly email marketing campaigns can also keep your sales coming in.

3. Sell Your Own E-Goods
E-Goods are products that are digital. So they can be easily delivered to a buyer. An example of a e-good is software or an ebook on a certain topic.

If you purchased anti-virus software or spyware software online, then you purchased an e-good. Either it was emailed to you or you clicked on a link and downloaded it once you bought it.

EBooks are very popular because they contain information about a specific topic that someone might have an interest in. Let's say you know how to fix something that most people do not. You could put together an Ebook teaching people how to fix it.

So rather than hiring someone to fix whatever you are having problems with, why not buy a $10 Ebook and do it yourself.

Sharing knowledge is a great way to make money.

But you sell the television to a buyer online for $900. You then call the company, pay for the television (only after you receive payment from the buyer of course) and request that the company ship the television to the buyer directly. And you keep the $200 profit.

In this scenario, you never owned the television. You knew of a great deal, marketed the product higher than what you can currently buy it for and then you sold it. Then you had the manufacturer ship it directly to the buyer.

All you did was run an ad and make a phone call.
